Here it is! The best time of year! The Holiday Season! So I’m not a huge holidays person. Christmas was my mom’s favorite holiday. She went all out with decorating, baking, music. The works. Jost got news today that a friend of mine is on a ventilator. She has covid. My ex-mother-in-law sent me a message this morning, informing me of this sad, sad news. I’ve known this woman since high school. They took her to the hospital in a helicopter. Admittedly I haven’t spent much time with her, or her husband, who is also a good friend, since the pandemic started. I’ve been a homebody, cautious. But that doesn’t change the fact I care about these people. I feel terrible. They are truly good people. They have adopted all 5 of their children, and fostered many more. ...

If you noticed, there are some changes around here. I decided to move away from Ghost and try this blog with next.js and markdown. I had to manually recreate all the blog posts, but I think it’s ultimately worth it. I have been less and less impressed by Ghost recently and their move to monetization, as I obviously don’t monetize this beast. And Wordpress is much more easily compromised with plugins. Also I had a Wordpress site get hacked once and I’ve been skeptical ever since. ...

So, it’s official. I’m the new team lead for the PM crew. Another small bump in pay and some more responsibily. Excellent!

It’s that fabulous time of the year again. Spring. And with Spring comes Baseball! The big leagues are playing, fans are back in most stadiums in some capacity, and Mason is playing too! Very much playing. On 4 teams! So the schedule is pretty hectic, and it seems like all I’m doing is driving to this practice, or that game, or some other field. But I love it. Which Susie loves to remind when I start to complain about all the running. Yes, it’s crazy and busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. ...

Took my car to get inspected today. Wow. Last April I hit a deer on my way to work and took my car to Connor’s Auto Body. They repaired the body and the front passenger suspension system which was damaged at a cost of almost $2,400 out of my pocket. Today my car cost another $935 to repair that same suspension system. The. Exact. Same. Parts.(!) So what the fuck did I pay Connor’s for? ...

The republican party is at war with itself. Two factions, the old conservatives and the new radicals. As I’m writing this Kevin McCarthy is holding a party meeting to discuss the fate of two Congresswomen, Liz Cheney and Marjorie Taylor Greene. To illustrate the polar ends of the party, Cheney who is the 3 most powerful Republican is taking heat for voting to impeach Trump for the 2nd time after his fiasco at the capital. And Greene is under fire for, well, many things. QAnon, white supremacy, anti-Semitism, and unfortunately, Jewish-controlled, wildfire-causing space “lazers.” No joke. ...
