After three and a half years, I’m back to where I started. Working Thursday and Friday as my 2 weekdays. Simon finally went to days and with Tim and Chris both working Monday/Tuesday the end of the week was a tad light on workers. No terrible, but I’ll get used to it. I can watch the 2 primetime football games, and John Oliver. So there’s that I guess. Oh! And Jamie is back. As a tech on 3rd shift. For now. I still want that damn day shift spot. I can only hope for Simon to get fired or quit. Shitty, I know, but it’s been three and a half years! I want my weekends back!!! ...

So in other news besides 200,000 dead: Mason is slumping in baseball. Ford is actively dying. We’re very shorthanded at work and I’m pulling extra shifts. And now Mason will be staying with me indefinitely because Amanda’s neighbor is mentally ill and threatened to kill her, basically. Neat! Oh! And my axle boot is torn and leaking grease. Groovy! Best news I have right now is that Simon is finally going to day shift on September 14th! ...

So, 51 days later and we’re still fucked. Still rocking masks, still coveting hand sanitizer, and still dying from COVID. Schools are about to open. Jesus H. Christ. Baseball is about to start back up, even as MLB shut down after 3 days. But I did score a brand new Mi Band 5 fitness tracker. Sweet. It’ll be good for the bike rides Susie and I are doing now. Scared as hell for school to start in a month! They have a plan; I’m not convinced. ...

Our country is in the midst of a revolution. Not your 24 hour planetary type, but the type that galvanizes change. At least that’s what the media and the historians say. But historically none of that ever happens. People riot for equality, and when they get a little bit, temporarily, they forget why they stood up. The police in this current age seem to think they have unlimited powers and immunity. This is being proven wrong, daily, in the urban streets ...

Got the official word today, I’m now the 2nd team lead. And a small raise comes with the position. $4,160. TYVM

Back to the slog. Fortunately I got the first round of unemployment pay, so that’s fantastic. I spent a few dollars. Yes, on video game shit. I got a video card, a RasPi 4, and any day now I should get the RetroMimi handheld. Yeah boi! Guess I’m getting back into gaming now.

And just like that, it’s all over. 2 weeks in and back to regular schedules at work. Haven’t seen a penny in unemployment either. I stand by my original statement that the company is run by morons. Was kind of excited to get out Sunday at noon for Memorial day, even without a cookout to go to. But, alas, it’s not meant to be. I will, however, get 4 days off this week. Maybe my power cable for my new video card will finally come! ...

Today I was given the backup team lead spot at work. Woot! Small pay bump, perhaps one American dollar per hour?! Nice. I went from knowing nothing, hired as a floor resurfacing tech, to this new role in 3 years. To quote Adam Sandler, “Not too shabby”. EDIT: Two American dollars per hour!
